102:15 The nations will respect the reputation of the Lord,¹

Applaud him, all you foreigners!⁴

117:2 For his loyal love towers⁵ over us,

and the Lord’s faithfulness endures.

[102:15] ¹tn Heb “will fear the name of the Lord.” To “fear” God’s name means to have a healthy respect for his revealed reputation which in turn motivates one to obey God’s commands (see Ps 86:11).

[102:15] ²tn The verb “will fear” is understood by ellipsis in the second line (see the preceding line).

[117:1] ³sn Psalm 117. The psalmist tells the nations to praise the Lord for his loyal love and faithfulness.
