A Prayer for the Future

Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves, when our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little, when we arrive safely because we have sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess, we have lost our thirst for the waters of life; having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity; and in our efforts to build a new earth, we have allowed our vision of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas where storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; and to push into the future in strength, courage, hope, and love.

Sir Frances Drake Quoted in OC Missionary Prayer Letter of Jeanie Curryer, September, 1997

The Temp Folder in a Computer

The files in the 'temp' folder of a computer are once important, but are not essential after its usage. They become redundant soon after they are used. Computer experts suggest that as long as the date of a file in the 'temp' folder is not today, it is safe to delete. Accumulating too many of such files in the 'temp' folder will take up too many disk space and will slow down the system. These files are only temporary. There are too many things in our lives that can be classified as 'temp files'. They don't yield eternal value. Do you have too many of such 'temp files' in your life? They are not needed in eternity. They only give you extra burdens and slow you down in your spiritual walk with God.
