1 Chronicles 11:22

11:22 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a brave warrior from Kabzeel who performed great exploits. He struck down the two sons of Ariel of Moab; ¹  he also went down and killed a lion inside a cistern on a snowy day.

1 Chronicles 28:4

28:4 The Lord God of Israel chose me out of my father’s entire family to become king over Israel and have a permanent dynasty. ²  Indeed, ³  he chose Judah as leader, and my father’s family within Judah, and then he picked me out from among my father’s sons and made me king over all Israel. ⁴ 

¹ tc Heb “the two of Ariel, Moab.” The precise meaning of אֲרִיאֵל (’ari’el) is uncertain; some read “warrior.” The present translation assumes that the word is a proper name and that בְּנֵי (bÿney, “sons of”) has accidentally dropped from the text by homoioarcton (note the preceding שְׁנֵי, shÿney).

² tn Heb “out of all the house of my father to become king over all Israel permanently.”

⁴ tn Heb “and among the sons of my father he desired to make me king over all Israel.”
