1 Chronicles 17:8
17:8 I was with you wherever you went and I defeated
1 all your enemies before you. Now I will make you as famous as the great men of the earth.

Psalms 121:8
121:8 The Lord will protect you in all you do, 3
now and forevermore.
Proverbs 21:31
21:31 A horse is prepared for the day of battle,
but the victory is from the Lord. 4
1 tn Heb “cut off.”
2 tn Heb “and I will make for you a name like the name of the great men who are in the earth.”
3 tn Heb “your going out and your coming in.”
4 tn Heb “of the Lord.” The victory being “of the Lord” means that it is accomplished by him. Ultimate success comes from the Lord and not from human efforts. The faithful have acknowledged this down through the ages, even though they have been responsible and have prepared for the wars. Without this belief there would have been no prayer on the eve of battle (e.g., Ps 20:7 and 33:17).
