25:3 From the sons of Jeduthun: 1 Gedaliah, Zeri, 2 Jeshaiah, 3 Hashabiah, and Mattithiah – six in all, 4 under supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied as he played a harp, giving thanks and praise to the Lord.
25:1 David and the army officers selected some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy as they played stringed instruments and cymbals. 5 The following men were assigned this responsibility: 6
3:15 The sons of Josiah:
Johanan was the firstborn; Jehoiakim was born second; Zedekiah third; and Shallum fourth.
3:1 These were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron:

1:24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my physical body – for the sake of his body, the church – what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ. 1:25 I became a servant of the church according to the stewardship 10 from God – given to me for you – in order to complete 11 the word of God, 1:26 that is, the mystery that has been kept hidden from ages and generations, but has now been revealed to his saints.
1 tn Heb “belonging to Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun.”
2 tn This name appears as “Izri” in v. 10.
3 tc One Hebrew
4 tc The list includes only five names. Apparently the name “Shimei” (see v. 17), which appears in one medieval Hebrew
5 tn Heb “David and the officers of the army set apart for service the sons of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, the ones prophesying by harps, by lyres, and by cymbals.”
6 tn Heb “and their number was, the men of work for their service.”
7 tn Heb “stuck close after.”
8 tn Heb “the Philistines.” The translation has substituted the pronoun “they” to avoid redundancy.
9 tn Heb “his”; the referent (Saul) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
10 tn BDAG 697 s.v. οἰκονομία 1.b renders the term here as “divine office.”
11 tn See BDAG 828 s.v. πληρόω 3. The idea here seems to be that the apostle wants to “complete the word of God” in that he wants to preach it to every person in the known world (cf. Rom 15:19). See P. T. O’Brien, Colossians, Philemon (WBC), 82.
