1 John 3:21
3:21 Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence in the presence of God,
Isaiah 32:17
32:17 Fairness will produce peace 1
and result in lasting security. 2
Hebrews 6:10-11
6:10 For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name, in having served and continuing to serve the saints.
6:11 But we passionately want each of you to demonstrate the same eagerness for the fulfillment of your hope until the end,
Hebrews 10:22
10:22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings,
3 because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience
4 and our bodies washed in pure water.
1 tn Heb “and the product of fairness will be peace.”
2 tn Heb “and the work of fairness [will be] calmness and security forever.”
3 tn Grk “in assurance of faith.”
4 sn The phrase our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience combines the OT imagery of the sprinkling with blood to give ritual purity with the emphasis on the interior cleansing provided by the new covenant: It is the heart that is cleansed and the conscience made perfect (cf. Heb 8:10; 9:9, 14; 10:2, 16).
