1 Kings 1:51

1:51 Solomon was told, “Look, Adonijah fears you; ¹  see, he has taken hold of the horns of the altar, saying, ‘May King Solomon solemnly promise ²  me today that he will not kill his servant with the sword.’”

2:8 “Note well, you still have to contend with Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, ³  who tried to call down upon me a horrible judgment when I went to Mahanaim. ⁴  He came down and met me at the Jordan, and I solemnly promised ⁵  him by the Lord, ‘I will not strike you down ⁶  with the sword.’

19:10 He answered, “I have been absolutely loyal ⁷  to the Lord, the sovereign God, ⁸  even though the Israelites have abandoned the agreement they made with you, ⁹  torn down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left and now they want to take my life.” ¹⁰
