1 Kings 16:7

16:7 The prophet Jehu son of Hanani received from the Lord the message predicting the downfall of Baasha and his family because of all the evil Baasha had done in the sight of the Lord. His actions angered the Lord (including the way he had destroyed Jeroboam’s dynasty), so that his family ended up like Jeroboam’s.

Psalms 106:29

106:29 They made the Lord angry by their actions,

and a plague broke out among them.

Isaiah 65:3

65:3 These people continually and blatantly offend me

as they sacrifice in their sacred orchards

and burn incense on brick altars.

Ezekiel 8:3

8:3 He stretched out the form of a hand and grabbed me by a lock of hair on my head. Then a wind lifted me up between the earth and sky and brought me to Jerusalem by means of divine visions, to the door of the inner gate which faces north where the statue 10  which provokes to jealousy was located.

tn Heb “and also through Jehu son of Hanani the word of the Lord came concerning [or “against”] Baasha and his house, and because of all the evil which he did in the eyes of the Lord.”

tn Heb “angering him by the work of his hands, so that he was like the house of Jeroboam, and because of how he struck it down.”

tn Heb “They made angry [him].” The pronominal suffix is omitted here, but does appear in a few medieval Hebrew mss. Perhaps it was accidentally left off, an original וַיַּכְעִיסוּהוּ (vayyakhisuhu) being misread as וַיַּכְעִיסוּ (vayyakhisu). In the translation the referent of the pronominal suffix (the Lord) has been specified for clarity to avoid confusion with Baal of Peor (mentioned in the previous verse).

tn Heb “the people who provoke me to anger to my face continually.”

tn Or “gardens” (KJV, NASB, NIV, NRSV, NLT).

tn Or perhaps, “on tiles.”

tn The Hebrew term is normally used as an architectural term in describing the pattern of the tabernacle or temple or a representation of it (see Exod 25:8; 1 Chr 28:11).

tn Or “spirit.” See note on “wind” in 2:2.
