1 Kings 2:32

2:32 May the Lord punish him for the blood he shed;¹ behind my father David’s back he struck down and murdered with the sword two men who were more innocent and morally upright than he² – Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.

1 Kings 8:25

8:25 Now, O Lord, God of Israel, keep the promise you made to your servant, my father David, when you said, ‘You will never fail to have a successor ruling before me on the throne of Israel,³ provided that your descendants watch their step and serve me as you have done.’⁴

1 Kings 11:38

11:38 You must obey⁵ all I command you to do, follow my instructions,⁶ do what I approve,⁷ and keep my rules and commandments, like my servant David did. Then I will be with you and establish for you a lasting dynasty, as I did for David;⁸ I will give you Israel.
