7:1 Solomon took thirteen years to build his palace. 2
1 tn Heb “Solomon left all the items, due to their very great abundance; the weight of the bronze was not sought.”
2 tn Heb “His house Solomon built in thirteen years and he completed all his house.”
3 tn Heb “Do you know that Ramoth Gilead belongs to us, and we hesitate to take it from the hand of the king of Aram?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “Of course, you must know!”
4 tc The translation follows the LXX (Greek version), which reflects the description in 1 Kgs 7:25-26. The Hebrew text reads, “the twelve bronze bulls under the movable stands.” הַיָּם (hayyam, “The Sea”) has been accidentally omitted by homoioarcton; note that the following form, הַמְּכֹנוֹת (hammÿkhonot, “the movable stands”), also begins with the article.
