1 Samuel 2:30

2:30 Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, says, ‘I really did say ¹  that your house and your ancestor’s house would serve ²  me forever.’ But now the Lord says, ‘May it never be! ³  For I will honor those who honor me, but those who despise me will be cursed!

Jeremiah 2:26-27

2:26 Just as a thief has to suffer dishonor when he is caught,

so the people of Israel ⁴  will suffer dishonor for what they have done. ⁵ 

So will their kings and officials,

their priests and their prophets.

2:27 They say to a wooden idol, ⁶  ‘You are my father.’

They say to a stone image, ‘You gave birth to me.’ ⁷ 

Yes, they have turned away from me instead of turning to me. ⁸ 

Yet when they are in trouble, they say, ‘Come and save us!’

Malachi 2:9

2:9 “Therefore, I have caused you to be ignored and belittled before all people to the extent to which you are not following after me and are showing partiality in your ⁹  instruction.”

Philippians 3:19
