1 Samuel 5:10

5:10 So they sent the ark of God to Ekron.

But when the ark of God arrived at Ekron, the residents of Ekron cried out saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel here ¹  to kill our ²  people!”

1 Samuel 9:6

³ tn The infinitive absolute precedes the verb for emphasis.

⁵ tn Heb “a thing.”

⁶ tn The perfect verbal form is used rhetorically here to express Jonathan’s certitude. As far as he is concerned, the victory is as good as won and can be described as such.
