2 Chronicles 24:16

24:16 He was buried in the City of David with the kings, because he had accomplished good in Israel and for God and his temple.

Acts 8:2

8:2 Some devout men buried Stephen and made loud lamentation over him.

sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.

tn “Some” is not in the Greek text, but is implied.

sn Made loud lamentation. For someone who was stoned to death, lamentation was normally not allowed (m. Sanhedrin 6:6). The remark points to an unjust death.

tn Or “mourned greatly for him.”
