2 Chronicles 6:32

6:32 “Foreigners, who do not belong to your people Israel, will come from a distant land because of your great reputation ¹  and your ability to accomplish mighty deeds; ²  they will come and direct their prayers toward this temple.

2 Chronicles 30:8

30:8 Now, don’t be stubborn ³  like your fathers! Submit ⁴  to the Lord and come to his sanctuary which he has permanently consecrated. Serve the Lord your God so that he might relent from his raging anger. ⁵ 

¹ tn Heb “your great name.” The word “name” sometimes refers to one’s reputation or honor (thus the translation here, “your great reputation”).

² tn Heb “and your strong hand and your outstretched arm.”

³ tn Heb “don’t stiffen your neck” (a Hebrew idiom for being stubborn).

⁴ tn Heb “give a hand.” On the meaning of the idiom here, see HALOT 387 s.v. I יָד 2.

⁵ tn Heb “so that the rage of his anger might turn from you.” The jussive with vav conjunctive indicates purpose/result after the preceding imperative.
