18:37 Eliakim son of Hilkiah, the palace supervisor, accompanied by Shebna the scribe and Joah son of Asaph, the secretary, went to Hezekiah with their clothes torn 8  and reported to him what the chief adviser had said.

Nebuchadnezzar Destroys Jerusalem

25:8 On the seventh 12  day of the fifth month, 13  in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the royal guard 14  who served the king of Babylon, arrived in Jerusalem. 15

25:11 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the royal guard, deported the rest of the people who were left in the city, those who had deserted to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the craftsmen. 16

2 tn Heb “went up and tied [it] and counted the silver that was found in the house of the Lord.” The order of the clauses has been rearranged in the translation to make better sense in English, since it seems more logical to count the money before bagging it (cf. NIV, NCV, NRSV, NLT).

3 tn Heb “What is this object of trust in which you are trusting?”

5 sn Aramaic was the diplomatic language of the empire.

7 tn Heb “To your master and to you did my master send me to speak these words?” The rhetorical question expects a negative answer.
