2 Timothy 1:11

1:11 For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.

2 Timothy 4:3

4:3 For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things.

tn Grk “for which.”

tc Most mss (א2 C D F G Ψ 1739 1881 Ï latt sy co) have ἐθνῶν (eqnwn, “of the Gentiles”) after “teacher.” The shorter reading has poorer external credentials (א* A I 1175 pc), but is preferred because ἐθνῶν probably represents a gloss added by copyists familiar with 1 Tim 2:7. There is no easy explanation for the omission of the word if it were original here.

tn Grk “they”; the referent (the people in that future time) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

tn Grk “in accord with.”

tn Grk “having an itching in regard to hearing,” “having itching ears.”
