Acts 13:4

Paul and Barnabas Preach in Cyprus

13:4 So Barnabas and Saul, sent out by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

Acts 15:32

15:32 Both Judas and Silas, who were prophets themselves, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with a long speech.

Acts 20:34

20:34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine provided for my needs and the needs of those who were with me.

Acts 24:20

24:20 Or these men here should tell what crime they found me guilty of when I stood before the council,

Acts 28:28

28:28 “Therefore be advised 10  that this salvation from God 11  has been sent to the Gentiles; 12  they 13  will listen!”

tn Grk “they”; the referents (Barnabas and Saul) have been specified in the translation for clarity.

sn Seleucia was the port city of Antioch in Syria.

sn Cyprus was a large island in the Mediterranean off the south coast of Asia Minor.

tn Here λόγου (logou) is singular. BDAG 599-600 s.v. λόγος 1.a.β has “in a long speech” for this phrase.

tn The words “of mine” are not in the Greek text, but are supplied to clarify whose hands Paul is referring to.

10 tn Grk “these [men] themselves.”

11 tn Or “unrighteous act.”

12 tn The words “me guilty of” are not in the Greek text, but are implied. L&N 88.23 has “αὐτοὶ οὗτοι εἰπάτωσαν τί εὗρον ἀδίκημα στάντος μου ‘let these men themselves tell what unrighteous act they found me guilty of’ Ac 24:20.”

13 tn Grk “the Sanhedrin” (the Sanhedrin was the highest legal, legislative, and judicial body among the Jews).

13 tn Grk “Therefore let it be known to you.”

14 tn Or “of God.”

15 sn The term Gentiles is in emphatic position in the Greek text of this clause. Once again there is the pattern: Jewish rejection of the gospel leads to an emphasis on Gentile inclusion (Acts 13:44-47).

16 tn Grk “they also.”
