Luke 21:12

21:12 But before all this, ¹¹  they will seize ¹²  you and persecute you, handing you over to the synagogues ¹³  and prisons. You ¹⁴  will be brought before kings and governors because of my name.

¹ tn Grk “And I said.” Because of the difference between Greek style, which often begins sentences or clauses with “and,” and English style, which generally does not, καί (kai, in καγώ [kagw]) has not been translated here.

⁴ sn Councils in this context refers to local judicial bodies attached to the Jewish synagogue. This group would be responsible for meting out justice and discipline within the Jewish community.
