Daniel 11:31-35

11:31 His forces ¹  will rise up and profane the fortified sanctuary, ²  stopping the daily sacrifice. In its place they will set up ³  the abomination that causes desolation. 11:32 Then with smooth words he will defile ⁴  those who have rejected ⁵  the covenant. But the people who are loyal to ⁶  their God will act valiantly. ⁷  11:33 These who are wise among the people will teach the masses. ⁸  However, they will fall ⁹  by the sword and by the flame, ¹⁰  and they will be imprisoned and plundered for some time. ¹¹  11:34 When they stumble, they will be granted some help. But many will unite with them deceitfully. 11:35 Even some of the wise will stumble, resulting in their refinement, purification, and cleansing until the time of the end, for it is still for the appointed time.

Revelation 13:7

13:7 The beast ¹²  was permitted to go to war against the saints and conquer them. ¹³  He was given ruling authority ¹⁴  over every tribe, people, ¹⁵  language, and nation,

It is, however, found in Ì^115vid א 051 1006 (1611) 1841 (1854) 2329 2344 2351 (Ï^K) lat sy^ph,(h) bo. Although the ms evidence is somewhat in favor of the shorter reading, the support of ̹¹⁵ (a recently-discovered ms) for the longer reading balances things out. Normally, the shorter reading should be given preference. However, in an instance in which homoioteleuton could play a role, caution must be exercised. In this passage, accidental omission is quite likely. That this could have happened seems apparent from the two occurrences of the identical phrase “and it was given to him” (καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ, kai edoqh autw) in v. 7. The scribe’s eye skipped over the first καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ and went to the second, hence creating an accidental omission of eleven words.
