Daniel 2:9

2:9 If you don’t inform me of the dream, there is only one thing that is going to happen to you. ¹  For you have agreed among yourselves to report to me something false and deceitful ²  until such time as things might change. So tell me the dream, and I will have confidence ³  that you can disclose its interpretation.”

Daniel 3:7

3:7 Therefore when they all ⁴  heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, trigon, harp, pipes, ⁵  and all kinds of music, all the peoples, nations, and language groups began bowing down and paying homage to the golden statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had erected.

Daniel 3:26

3:26 Then Nebuchadnezzar approached the door of the furnace of blazing fire. He called out, ⁶  “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the most high God, come out! Come here!”

Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego emerged from the fire. ⁷ 

Daniel 4:17

4:17 This announcement is by the decree of the sentinels;

this decision is by the pronouncement of the holy ones,

so that ⁸  those who are alive may understand

that the Most High has authority over human kingdoms, ⁹ 

and he bestows them on whomever he wishes.

He establishes over them even the lowliest of human beings.’

Daniel 6:4

6:4 Consequently the supervisors and satraps were trying to find ¹⁰  some pretext against Daniel in connection with administrative matters. ¹¹  But they were unable to find any such damaging evidence, ¹²  because he was trustworthy and guilty of no negligence or corruption. ¹³ 

Daniel 11:30

11:30 The ships of Kittim ¹⁴  will come against him, leaving him disheartened. ¹⁵  He will turn back and direct his indignation against the holy covenant. He will return and honor ¹⁶  those who forsake the holy covenant.

¹⁶ sn The name Kittim has various designations in extra-biblical literature. It can refer to a location on the island of Cyprus, or more generally to the island itself, or it can be an inclusive term to refer to parts of the Mediterranean world that lay west of the Middle East (e.g., Rome). For ships of Kittim the Greek OT (LXX) has “Romans,” an interpretation followed by a few English versions (e.g., TEV). A number of times in the Dead Sea Scrolls the word is used in reference to the Romans. Other English versions are more generic: “[ships] of the western coastlands” (NIV, NLT); “from the west” (NCV, CEV).

¹⁷ sn This is apparently a reference to the Roman forces, led by Gaius Popilius Laenas, which confronted Antiochus when he came to Egypt and demanded that he withdraw or face the wrath of Rome. Antiochus wisely withdrew from Egypt, albeit in a state of bitter frustration.
