20:1 The Lord instructed Joshua: 20:2 “Have the Israelites select 22 the cities of refuge 23 that I told you about through Moses.

The Lord your God will hand it over to you. 8:8 When you capture the city, set it 52 on fire. Do as the Lord says! See, I have given you orders.” 53
23:1 A long time 57 passed after the Lord made Israel secure from all their enemies, 58 and Joshua was very old. 59 23:2 So Joshua summoned all Israel, including the elders, rulers, judges, and leaders, and told them: “I am very old.

The Hebrew pronominal suffix “your” is singular, being addressed to Joshua as the leader and representative of the nation. To convey to the modern reader what is about to happen and who is doing it, the translation “I am about to defeat Jericho for you” has been used.
