2:24 Get up, make your way across Wadi Arnon. Look! I have already delivered over to you Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, ¹  and his land. Go ahead! Take it! Engage him in war!

Deuteronomy 4:21

4:21 But the Lord became angry with me because of you and vowed that I would never cross the Jordan nor enter the good land that he ²  is about to give you. ³ 

Deuteronomy 12:10

12:10 When you do go across the Jordan River ⁴  and settle in the land he ⁵  is granting you as an inheritance and you find relief from all the enemies who surround you, you will live in safety. ⁶ 

¹ sn Heshbon is the name of a prominent site (now Tell Hesba„n, about 7.5 mi [12 km] south southwest of Amman, Jordan). Sihon made it his capital after having driven Moab from the area and forced them south to the Arnon (Num 21:26-30). Heshbon is also mentioned in Deut 1:4.

² tn Heb “the Lord your God.” See note on “he” in 4:3.

³ tn The Hebrew text includes “(as) an inheritance,” or “(as) a possession.”
