28:48 instead in hunger, thirst, nakedness, and poverty ⁸  you will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you. They ⁹  will place an iron yoke on your neck until they have destroyed you.

Deuteronomy 28:57

³ sn Wadi Jabbok. Now known as the Zerqa River, this is a major tributary of the Jordan that normally served as a boundary between Ammon and Gad (Deut 3:16).

⁵ tn The Hebrew term is דַּיָּה (dayyah). This, with the previous two terms (רָאָה [ra’ah] and אַיָּה [’ayyah]), is probably a kite of some species but otherwise impossible to specify.
