Ezekiel 1:27

1:27 I saw an amber glow ¹  like a fire enclosed all around ²  from his waist up. From his waist down I saw something that looked like fire. There was a brilliant light around it,

Ezekiel 8:6

8:6 He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing – the great abominations that the people ³  of Israel are practicing here, to drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will see greater abominations than these!”

Ezekiel 8:12

8:12 He said to me, “Do you see, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in the chamber of his idolatrous images? ⁴  For they think, ‘The Lord does not see us! The Lord has abandoned the land!’”

Ezekiel 12:2

12:2 “Son of man, you are living in the midst of a rebellious house. ⁵  They have eyes to see, but do not see, and ears to hear, but do not hear, ⁶  because they are a rebellious house.

² tc The LXX lacks this phrase. Its absence from the LXX may be explained as a case of haplography resulting from homoioteleuton, skipping from כְּמַרְאֵה (kÿmar’eh) to מִמַּרְאֵה (mimmar’eh). On the other hand, the LXX presents a much more balanced verse structure when it is recognized that the final words of this verse belong in the next sentence.

⁵ tn Heb “the room of his images.” The adjective “idolatrous” has been supplied in the translation for clarity.

⁷ sn The book of Ezekiel frequently refers to the Israelites as a rebellious house (Ezek 2:5, 6, 8; 3:9, 26-27; 12:2-3, 9, 25; 17:12; 24:3).

⁸ sn This verse is very similar to Isa 6:9-10.
