16:3 and say, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth were in the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.

Ezekiel 20:9

20:9 I acted for the sake of my reputation, ¹  so that I would not be profaned before the nations among whom they lived, ²  before whom I revealed myself by bringing them out of the land of Egypt. ³ 

Ezekiel 20:38

20:38 I will eliminate from among you the rebels and those who revolt ⁴  against me. I will bring them out from the land where they have been residing, but they will not come to the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Ezekiel 23:27

23:27 So I will put an end to your obscene conduct and your prostitution which you have practiced in the land of Egypt. ⁵  You will not seek their help ⁶  or remember Egypt anymore.

¹ tn Heb “for the sake of my name.”

² tn Heb “before the eyes of the nations in whose midst they were.”

³ tn Heb “to whom I made myself known before their eyes to bring them out from the land of Egypt.” The translation understands the infinitive construct (“to bring them out”) as indicating manner. God’s deliverance of his people from Egypt was an act of self-revelation in that it displayed his power and his commitment to his promises.
