Ezekiel 29:7

29:7 when they grasped you with their hand, ¹  you broke and tore ²  their shoulders,

and when they leaned on you, you splintered and caused their legs to be unsteady. ³ 

Ezekiel 32:4

32:4 I will leave you on the ground,

I will fling you on the open field,

I will allow ⁴  all the birds of the sky to settle ⁵  on you,

and I will permit ⁶  all the wild animals ⁷  to gorge themselves on you.

Ezekiel 34:6

34:6 My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. My sheep were scattered over the entire face of the earth with no one looking or searching for them.

¹ tn The Hebrew consonantal text (Kethib) has “by your hand,” but the marginal reading (Qere) has simply “by the hand.” The LXX reads “with their hand.”

Allen, Ezekiel (WBC), 2:103. In 2 Kgs 18:21 and Isa 36:6 trusting in the Pharaoh is compared to leaning on a staff. The oracle may reflect Hophra’s attempt to aid Jerusalem (Jer 37:5-8).
