15:15 But as for you, ¹  you will go to your ancestors ²  in peace and be buried at a good old age. ³

Genesis 26:29

¹ tn The vav with the pronoun before the verb calls special attention to the subject in contrast to the preceding subject.

² sn You will go to your ancestors. This is a euphemistic expression for death.

³ tn Heb “in a good old age.”

⁴ tn Heb “and they got up early and they swore an oath, a man to his brother.”

⁵ tn Heb “and they went from him in peace.”

⁷ tn Heb “and I return in peace to the house of my father.”

¹⁰ tn The oath formula is used: “if you do us harm” means “so that you will not do.”

¹¹ tn Heb “touched.”

¹² tn Heb “and just as we have done only good with you.”

¹³ tn Heb “and we sent you away.”

¹⁴ tn The Philistine leaders are making an observation, not pronouncing a blessing, so the translation reads “you are blessed” rather than “may you be blessed” (cf. NAB).
