Genesis 27:1

Jacob Cheats Esau out of the Blessing

27:1 When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he was almost blind, he called his older son Esau and said to him, “My son!” “Here I am!” Esau replied.

Genesis 1:31

1:31 God saw all that he had made – and it was very good! There was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day.

tn The clause begins with the temporal indicator (“and it happened”), making it subordinate to the main clause that follows later in the sentence.

tn Heb “and his eyes were weak from seeing.”

tn Heb “greater” (in terms of age).

tn Heb “he”; the referent (Esau) is specified in the translation for clarity.

tn The Hebrew text again uses הִנֵּה (hinneh) for the sake of vividness. It is a particle that goes with the gesture of pointing, calling attention to something.
