Genesis 4:18

4:18 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father ¹  of Mehujael. Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.

Genesis 10:15

10:15 Canaan was the father of ²  Sidon his firstborn, ³  Heth, ⁴ 

¹ tn Heb “and Irad fathered.”

² tn Heb “fathered.”

³ sn Sidon was the foremost city in Phoenicia; here Sidon may be the name of its founder.

⁴ tn Some see a reference to “Hittites” here (cf. NIV), but this seems unlikely. See the note on the phrase “sons of Heth” in Gen 23:3.
