Genesis 4:19-20

4:19 Lamech took two wives for himself; the name of the first was Adah, and the name of the second was Zillah. 4:20 Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the first of those who live in tents and keep livestock.

4:23 Lamech said to his wives,

Genesis 36:10

Genesis 36:12

36:12 Timna, a concubine of Esau’s son Eliphaz, bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons of Esau’s wife Adah.

Genesis 36:16

36:16 chief Korah, chief Gatam, chief Amalek. These were the chiefs descended from Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.


tn Heb “father.” In this passage the word “father” means “founder,” referring to the first to establish such lifestyles and occupations.
