46:12 The sons of Judah:

Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah

(but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan).

The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

Genesis 38:3

38:3 She became pregnant ¹  and had a son. Judah named ²  him Er.

¹ tn Or “she conceived” (also in the following verse).

² tc Some mss read this verb as feminine, “she called,” to match the pattern of the next two verses. But the MT, “he called,” should probably be retained as the more difficult reading.
