Genesis 50:2-3

50:2 Joseph instructed the physicians in his service ¹  to embalm his father, so the physicians embalmed Israel. 50:3 They took forty days, for that is the full time needed for embalming. ²  The Egyptians mourned ³  for him seventy days. ⁴ 

Genesis 50:26

50:26 So Joseph died at the age of 110. ⁵  After they embalmed him, his body ⁶  was placed in a coffin in Egypt.

³ tn Heb “wept.”

⁴ sn Seventy days. This probably refers to a time of national mourning.

³ tn Heb “son of a hundred and ten years.”
