1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness.

God’s Promised Rest

4:1 Therefore we must be wary ³  that, while the promise of entering his rest remains open, none of you may seem to have come short of it.

¹ sn God…has anointed you over your companions. God’s anointing gives the son a superior position and authority over his fellows.

The longer reading is a palpable corruption, apparently motivated in part by the wording of Ps 40:8 (39:9 LXX) and by the word order of this same verse as quoted in Heb 10:7.
