tn Or “who was made a little lower than the angels.”

tn Grk “because of the suffering of death.”

tn Grk “would taste.” Here the Greek verb does not mean “sample a small amount” (as a typical English reader might infer from the word “taste”), but “experience something cognitively or emotionally; come to know something” (cf. BDAG 195 s.v. γεύομαι 2).

tn Grk “comes upon.”

tn Grk “they will not teach, each one his fellow citizen…” The Greek makes this negation emphatic: “they will certainly not teach.”

tn Grk “from the small to the great.”

10 tn Grk “putting…I will inscribe.”

11 sn A quotation from Jer 31:33.

13 tn Or “through his sacrifice”; Grk “through which.”

14 tn Or “through his sacrifice”; Grk “through it.”

16 tn Grk “that there not be any root of bitterness,” but referring figuratively to a person who causes trouble (as in Deut 29:17 [LXX] from which this is quoted).
