6:13 Now when God made his promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself,

Hebrews 6:16

6:16 For people ¹  swear by something greater than themselves, ²  and the oath serves as a confirmation to end all dispute. ³

9:11 But now Christ has come ⁴  as the high priest of the good things to come. He passed through the greater and more perfect tent not made with hands, that is, not of this creation,

¹ tn The plural Greek term ἄνθρωποι (anqrwpoi) is used here in a generic sense, referring to both men and women, and is thus translated “people.”

² tn Grk “by something greater”; the rest of the comparison (“than themselves”) is implied.

³ tn Grk “the oath for confirmation is an end of all dispute.”

¹ tn Grk “But Christ, when he came,” introducing a sentence that includes all of Heb 9:11-12. The main construction is “Christ, having come…, entered…, having secured…,” and everything else describes his entrance.
