Isaiah 29:8

29:8 It will be like a hungry man dreaming that he is eating,

only to awaken and find that his stomach is empty.

It will be like a thirsty man dreaming that he is drinking,

only to awaken and find that he is still weak and his thirst unquenched.

So it will be for the horde from all the nations

that fight against Mount Zion.

Isaiah 41:25

41:25 I have stirred up one out of the north and he advances,

one from the eastern horizon who prays in my name.

He steps on rulers as if they were clay,

like a potter treading the clay.

Isaiah 47:8

47:8 So now, listen to this,

O one who lives so lavishly,

who lives securely,

who says to herself,

‘I am unique! No one can compare to me!

I will never have to live as a widow;

I will never lose my children.’

Isaiah 54:17

54:17 No weapon forged to be used against you will succeed;

you will refute everyone who tries to accuse you. 10

This is what the Lord will do for his servants –

I will vindicate them,” 11

says the Lord.

tn Or perhaps, “voluptuous one” (NAB); NAB “you sensual one”; NLT “You are a pleasure-crazy kingdom.”

tn Heb “the one who says in her heart.”

tn Heb “I [am], and besides me there is no other.” See Zeph 2:15.

tn Heb “I will not live [as] a widow, and I will not know loss of children.”

tn Heb “and every tongue that rises up for judgment with you will prove to be guilty.”

tn Heb “this is the inheritance of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication from me.”
