Isaiah 3:26

3:26 Her gates will mourn and lament;

deprived of her people, she will sit on the ground. ¹ 

Isaiah 19:8

19:8 The fishermen will mourn and lament,

all those who cast a fishhook into the river,

and those who spread out a net on the water’s surface will grieve. ² 

¹ tn Heb “she will be empty, on the ground she will sit.” Jerusalem is personified as a destitute woman who sits mourning the empty city.
