Isaiah 57:14

57:14 He says,

“Build it! Build it! Clear a way!

Remove all the obstacles out of the way of my people!”

Isaiah 57:2

57:2 Those who live uprightly enter a place of peace;

they rest on their beds.

Isaiah 2:7

2:7 Their land is full of gold and silver;

there is no end to their wealth.

Their land is full of horses;

there is no end to their chariots.

tn Since God is speaking throughout this context, perhaps we should emend the text to “and I say.” However, divine speech is introduced in v. 15.

tn Heb “he enters peace, they rest on their beds, the one who walks straight ahead of himself.” The tomb is here viewed in a fairly positive way as a place where the dead are at peace and sleep undisturbed.

tn Or “treasuries”; KJV “treasures.”

sn Judah’s royal bureaucracy had accumulated great wealth and military might, in violation of Deut 17:16-17.
