Judges 1:7

1:7 Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings, with thumbs and big toes cut off, used to lick up ¹  food scraps ²  under my table. God has repaid me for what I did to them.” ³  They brought him to Jerusalem, ⁴  where he died.

Judges 18:2-3

18:2 The Danites sent out from their whole tribe five representatives, ⁵  capable men ⁶  from Zorah and Eshtaol, to spy out the land and explore it. They said to them, “Go, explore the land.” They came to the Ephraimite hill country and spent the night at Micah’s house. ⁷  18:3 As they approached ⁸  Micah’s house, they recognized the accent ⁹  of the young Levite. So they stopped ¹⁰  there and said to him, “Who brought you here? What are you doing in this place? What is your business here?” ¹¹ 

Judges 18:10

18:10 When you invade, ¹²  you will encounter ¹³  unsuspecting people. The land is wide! ¹⁴  God is handing it over to you – a place that lacks nothing on earth!” ¹⁵ 

Judges 20:26

20:26 So all the Israelites, the whole army, ¹⁶  went up to ¹⁷  Bethel. ¹⁸  They wept and sat there before the Lord; they did not eat anything ¹⁹  that day until evening. They offered up burnt sacrifices and tokens of peace ²⁰  to the Lord.

Judges 21:10

21:10 So the assembly sent 12,000 capable warriors ²¹  against Jabesh Gilead. ²²  They commanded them, “Go and kill with your swords ²³  the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead, including the women and little children.

¹ tn Elsewhere this verb usually carries the sense of “to gather; to pick up; to glean,” but “lick up” seems best here in light of the peculiar circumstances described by Adoni-Bezek.

² tn The words “food scraps” are not in the Hebrew text, but are implied.

³ tn Heb “Just as I did, so God has repaid me.” Note that the phrase “to them” has been supplied in the translation to clarify what is meant.
