Judges 11:19

11:19 Israel sent messengers to King Sihon, the Amorite king who ruled in Heshbon, and said to him, “Please allow us to pass through your land to our land.” 1 

Judges 19:28

19:28 He said to her, “Get up, let’s leave!” But there was no response. He put her on the donkey and went home. 2

20:22 The Israelite army 3  took heart 4  and once more arranged their battle lines, in the same place where they had taken their positions the day before.

20:36 Then the Benjaminites saw they were defeated.

The Israelites retreated before 5  Benjamin, because they had confidence in the men they had hid in ambush outside Gibeah.
