13:15 Then I said to the people of Judah, 1
“Listen and pay attention! Do not be arrogant!
For the Lord has spoken.
3:1 Listen, you Israelites, to this message which the Lord is proclaiming against 2 you! This message is for the entire clan I brought up 3 from the land of Egypt:
3:8 But I 4 am full of the courage that the Lord’s Spirit gives,
and have a strong commitment to justice. 5
This enables me to confront Jacob with its rebellion,
and Israel with its sin. 6
1 tn The words “Then I said to the people of Judah” are not in the text but are implicit from the address in v. 15 and the content of v. 17. They are supplied in the translation for clarity to show the shift from the

4 sn The prophet Micah speaks here and contrasts himself with the mercenaries just denounced by the

7 tn Grk “for we are not able not to speak about what we have seen and heard,” but the double negative, which cancels out in English, is emphatic in Greek. The force is captured somewhat by the English translation “it is impossible for us not to speak…” although this is slightly awkward.
