Jeremiah 7:2

7:2 “Stand in the gate of the Lord’s temple and proclaim ¹  this message: ‘Listen, all you people of Judah who have passed through these gates to worship the Lord. ²  Hear what the Lord has to say.

Jeremiah 18:11

18:11 So now, tell the people of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem ³  this: The Lord says, ‘I am preparing to bring disaster on you! I am making plans to punish you. ⁴  So, every one of you, stop the evil things you have been doing. ⁵  Correct the way you have been living and do what is right.’ ⁶ 

Jeremiah 19:14

19:14 Then Jeremiah left Topheth where the Lord had sent him to give that prophecy. He went to the Lord’s temple and stood ⁷  in its courtyard and called out to all the people.

Jeremiah 22:2

22:2 Say: ‘Listen, O king of Judah who follows in David’s succession. ⁸  You, your officials, and your subjects who pass through the gates of this palace must listen to what the Lord says. ⁹ 

Jeremiah 26:2

26:2 The Lord said, “Go stand in the courtyard of the Lord’s temple. ¹⁰  Speak out to all the people who are coming from the towns of Judah to worship in the Lord’s temple. Tell them everything I command you to tell them. Do not leave out a single word!

¹ tn Heb “Proclaim there…” The adverb is unnecessary in English style.

² sn That is, all those who have passed through the gates of the outer court and are standing in the courtyard of the temple.

⁴ sn Heb “I am forming disaster and making plans against you.” The word translated “forming” is the same as that for “potter,” so there is a wordplay taking the reader back to v. 5. They are in his hands like the clay in the hands of the potter. Since they have not been pliable he forms new plans. He still offers them opportunity to repent; but their response is predictable.

¹⁰ sn It is generally agreed that the incident recorded in this chapter relates to the temple message that Jeremiah gave in 7:1-15. The message there is summarized here in vv. 3-6. The primary interest here is in the response to that message.
