Jeremiah 7:7

7:7 If you stop doing these things, I will allow you to continue to live in this land which I gave to your ancestors as a lasting possession.

Jeremiah 18:2

18:2 “Go down at once to the potter’s house. I will speak to you further there.”

Jeremiah 33:7

33:7 I will restore Judah and Israel and will rebuild them as they were in days of old.

tn The translation uses imperatives in vv. 5-6 followed by the phrase, “If you do all this,” to avoid the long and complex sentence structure of the Hebrew sentence which has a series of conditional clauses in vv. 5-6 followed by a main clause in v. 7.

tn Heb “live in this place, in this land.”

tn Heb “gave to your fathers [with reference to] from ancient times even unto forever.”

tn Heb “Get up and go down.” The first verb is not literal but is idiomatic for the initiation of an action. See 13:4, 6 for other occurrences of this idiom.

tn Heb “And I will cause you to hear my word there.”

tn Heb “I will reverse [or restore] the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel.” For this idiom see the translator’s note on Jer 29:14 and see the usage in 30:3, 18; 31:23; 32:44.

tn This phrase simply means “as formerly” (BDB 911 s.v. רִאשׁוֹן 3.a). The reference to the “as formerly” must be established from the context. See the usage in Judg 20:32; 1 Kgs 13:6; Isa 1:26.
