10:14 There has not been a day like it before or since. The Lord obeyed 1  a man, for the Lord fought for Israel!

10:42 Joshua captured in one campaign 2  all these kings and their lands, for the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.

21:43 So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had solemnly promised to their ancestors, 3  and they conquered 4  it and lived in it.

Joshua Challenges Israel to be Faithful

23:1 A long time 5  passed after the Lord made Israel secure from all their enemies, 6  and Joshua was very old. 7

2 tn Heb “at one time.”

3 tn Heb “which he had sworn to give to their fathers.”

4 tn Or “possessed.”

4 tn Heb “many days.”

5 tn Heb “the Lord had given rest to Israel from their enemies all around.”

6 tn Heb “was old, coming into the days.” This expression, referring to advancing in years, also occurs in the following verse.
