Joshua 2:24

2:24 They told Joshua, “Surely the Lord is handing over all the land to us! ¹  All who live in the land are cringing before us!” ² 

Joshua 5:12

5:12 The manna stopped appearing the day they ate ³  some of the produce of the land; the Israelites never ate manna again. ⁴ 

Joshua 7:9

7:9 When the Canaanites and all who live in the land hear about this, they will turn against us and destroy the very memory of us ⁵  from the earth. What will you do to protect your great reputation?” ⁶ 

Joshua 24:8

24:8 Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites who lived east of the Jordan. They fought with you, but I handed them over to you; you conquered ⁷  their land and I destroyed them from before you.

¹ tn Heb “Surely the Lord has given into our hand all the land.” The report by the spies uses the Hebrew perfect, suggesting certitude.

² tn Heb “are melting away because of us.”

³ tn Heb “the day after, when they ate.” The present translation assumes this means the day after the Passover, though it is possible it refers to the day after they began eating the land’s produce.

⁴ tn Heb “and the sons of Israel had no more manna.”

⁵ tn Heb “and cut off our name.”

⁶ tn Heb “What will you do for your great name?”

⁷ tn Or “took possession of.”
