23:14 “Look, today I am about to die. ¹  You know with all your heart and being ²  that not even one of all the faithful promises the Lord your God made to you is left unfulfilled; every one was realized – not one promise is unfulfilled! ³

Joshua Challenges Israel to be Faithful

23:1 A long time ⁴  passed after the Lord made Israel secure from all their enemies, ⁵  and Joshua was very old. ⁶ 

Joshua 7:12

7:12 The Israelites are unable to stand before their enemies; they retreat because they have become subject to annihilation. ⁷  I will no longer be with you, ⁸  unless you destroy what has contaminated you. ⁹

105:44 He handed the territory of nations over to them,

Acts 26:22

26:22 I have experienced ¹³  help from God to this day, and so I stand testifying to both small and great, saying nothing except ¹⁴  what the prophets and Moses said ¹⁵  was going to happen:

⁶ tn Heb “was old, coming into the days.” This expression, referring to advancing in years, also occurs in the following verse.

⁷ tn Heb “they turn [the] back before their enemies because they are set apart [to destruction by the Lord].”

⁸ tn The second person pronoun is plural in Hebrew, indicating these words are addressed to the entire nation.

⁹ tn Heb “what is set apart [to destruction by the Lord] from your midst.”

¹⁰ tn Heb “and the [product of the] work of peoples they possessed.”

¹¹ sn A level road. See Jer 31:9.

¹² tn Heb “and [for] his amazing deeds for the sons of man.”

¹³ tn Grk “So experiencing…I stand.” The participle τυχών (tucwn) has been translated as a finite verb due to requirements of contemporary English style.

¹⁴ tn BDAG 311 s.v. ἐκτός 3.b, “functions as prep. w. gen. οὐδὲν ἐ. ὧν nothing except what (cf. 1 Ch 29:3; 2 Ch 17:19; TestNapht. 6:2) Ac 26:22.”

¹⁵ sn What the prophets and Moses said. Paul argued that his message reflected the hope of the Jewish scriptures.
