3 tn Heb “All Israel.”
4 tn Or “elders.”
5 tn Heb “like the resident alien, like the citizen.” The language is idiomatic, meaning that both groups were treated the same, at least in this instance.
6 tn Heb “as Moses, the Lord’s servant, commanded to bless the people, Israel, formerly.”
5 tn Or “it included in the valley, Beth Haram.”
6 sn The Sea of Kinnereth is another name for the Sea of Galilee. See the note on the word “Kinnereth” in 11:2.
7 tn Heb “went out.”
8 tn Or “the Ascent of Scorpions” (עַקְרַבִּים [’aqrabbim] means “scorpions” in Hebrew).
9 sn The Salt Sea is another name for the Dead Sea.
10 tn Heb “to the tongue of the Salt Sea to the north, to the end of the Jordan to the south.” The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but is supplied in the translation for clarity (also in the following verse).
11 tc The MT reads “Judah, the Jordan”; the LXX omits “Judah.” Perhaps there was a town named Judah, distinct from the tribe of Judah, located near the northern end of the Jordan.
