8:22 At the same time the men who had taken the city came out to fight, and the men of Ai were trapped in the middle. ¹  The Israelites struck them down, leaving no survivors or refugees.

Joshua 11:23

11:23 Joshua conquered ²  the whole land, just as the Lord had promised Moses, ³  and he assigned Israel their tribal portions. ⁴  Then the land was free of war.

13:6 I will drive out before the Israelites all who live in the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, ⁵  all the Sidonians; you be sure to parcel it out to Israel as I instructed you.” ⁶ 

Joshua 24:31

24:31 Israel worshiped ⁷  the Lord throughout Joshua’s lifetime and as long as the elderly men who outlived him remained alive. ⁸  These men had experienced firsthand everything the Lord had done for Israel. ⁹

Another possibility is that it refers to the Lord’s instructions, in which case the phrase could be translated, “just as the Lord had instructed Moses” (so NLT; cf. also NIV “had directed Moses”).
