Leviticus 25:4

25:4 but in the seventh year the land must have a Sabbath of complete rest ¹  – a Sabbath to the Lord. You must not sow your field or ²  prune your vineyard.

Leviticus 16:31

16:31 It is to be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must humble yourselves. ³  It is a perpetual statute. ⁴

25:6 You may have the Sabbath produce ⁵  of the land to eat – you, your male servant, your female servant, your hired worker, the resident foreigner who stays with you, ⁶

23:3 “‘Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there must be a Sabbath of complete rest, ⁷  a holy assembly. You must not do any work; it is a Sabbath to the Lord in all the places where you live.

Leviticus 23:32

23:32 It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must humble yourselves on the ninth day of the month in the evening, from evening until evening you must observe your Sabbath.” ⁸

25:2 “Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘When you enter the land that I am giving you, the land must observe a Sabbath ⁹  to the Lord.

¹ tn Heb “and in the seventh year a Sabbath of complete rest shall be to the land.” The expression “a Sabbath of complete rest” is superlative, emphasizing the full and all inclusive rest of the seventh year of the sabbatical cycle. Cf. ASV “a sabbath of solemn rest”; NAB “a complete rest.”

² tn Heb “and.” Here the Hebrew conjunction ו (vav, “and”) has an alternative sense (“or”).
