Luke 19:27

19:27 But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king, ¹  bring them here and slaughter ²  them ³  in front of me!’”

Luke 19:30

19:30 telling them, ⁴  “Go to the village ahead of you. ⁵  When ⁶  you enter it, you will find a colt tied there that has never been ridden. ⁷  Untie it and bring it here.

¹ tn Grk “to rule over them.”

² tn This term, when used of people rather than animals, has some connotations of violence and mercilessness (L&N 20.72).

³ sn Slaughter them. To reject the king is to face certain judgment from him.

⁴ tn Grk “saying.”

⁵ tn Grk “the village lying before [you]” (BDAG 530 s.v. κατέναντι 2.a).

⁶ tn Grk “in which entering.” This is a continuation of the previous sentence in Greek, but because of the length and complexity of the construction a new sentence was started here in the translation.
